Catalogue

Another thing that I picked up at the publishers was the current Egmont catalogue. I did a week's work experience there last spring after I graduated and one of the projects I was set was to do some illustration ideas for the catalogue cover. It was a bit strange to start with as I didn't have any of the materials that I would usually work with. One of the designers there did have some charcoal and pencils so I used those to make black and white textures and then recoloured them in photoshop. I don't think it looks like my work but it was good to try something new! As you can see, Not Me! gets a page in the catalogue too....

Dutch Co-edition

While I was at the publishers on Wednesday I picked up a copy of the Dutch co-edition of Not Me! called Ikke Niet! I had to do the dutch hand-drawn text for this a few months ago....my favourite words were HANDAFDRUKKEN - hand prints and ERWTJES - peas.

I did a presentation about Not Me! to a sales meeting at the publishers yesterday. I prepared these images so that I could show the process of adding line and then have "one that I made earlier"!

Endpapers!

Meanwhile, my first advance copy of the hardback and paperback editions of Not Me! arrived yesterday. The paperback endpapers have been printed in a different colour than expected, but fortunately they match the text and look like a big, chocolatey mess, which matches the story! It's so good to finally see what the finished products look like......just over 3 months till they're in the shops!

My desk!

I thought I'd treat you to a picture of the chaos that is my desk. No matter how often I try and tidy it I always end up working on a small A4 sized space on my cutting mat. I have now developed a technique of working on a board which is resting between my knees and the table- edge for such occasions!

A week of experimenting....

Please excuse the dodgy phone pic - I've been working in my studio this week experimenting with some different techniques and colours. Nothing is completely resolved yet but I finally feel like things are progressing. Fingers crossed!
