Feathers!

I started doing some events and sessions at nursery schools today to promote 'Not Me!'. In preparation for these I had to cut out around 800 paper feather shapes. It took a while!
The children I saw today seemed to really enjoy making the headdresses (like the one Bertie wears) and also enjoyed the book.

Day trip!

I went on a bit of a cultural excursion to London today....firstly to the British Museum to see the exhibition of Italian Renaissance drawings.....and then to the British Library to see 'Magnificent Maps'. Both are well worth a look and the maps exhibition is free!!!

Illustration Friday: Cocoon

Apologies for not creating a new piece this week but I'm in the middle of doing roughs for my next book and have a deadline at the end of the week. Panic!

Anyway, this is an illustration I thought showed what I immediately thought of when I saw the title 'Cocoon' - that feeling as a child of being cocooned in a warm bed, a big coat or even a sleeping bag!

Today's the Day!

It's finally here!!!! The official publication date for 'Not Me!'. A big thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement.

A very nice blog review has been posted by Library Mice - written by a school librarian and mother of two. Thanks for the thumbs up!

The final countdown!

3rd of May, publication date for my first picture book, is tomorrow!!!! I've heard from lots of friends and family that they already have copies of 'Not Me!' so it's out there already. Over the last couple of weeks I've been working on pencil roughs for my next book so I thought I would continue the theme for the countdown!
