Christmas Collaging

Just thought I'd post a picture of my desk from yesterday - I was putting together some collage christmas characters......

Last of the Winter Fair Cards

Here are the last card designs I will be doing for the winter fair this year - it's on Saturday ! For anyone who has missed all the plugs - we will be in the marquee outside Parkside Pool in Cambridge from 10 am to 4pm. Fingers crossed it's a nice day.

Those with eagle-eyes may notice that this polar bear closely resembles the sloth bear playing with a coconut I drew at Whipsnade Zoo earlier in the year (see September)!

More handmade cards!

I am still having fun making Christmas cards - this santa follows on from the children I did a few weeks ago. I have also done some hand painted penguins. And yes, you've guessed it, they will be for sale on our stall at the Mill Rd Winter Fair on December 5th from 10am-4.30pm!!!

Another addition to the Mill Road Winter Fair stocks. Just to remind you - it's on the 5th December and mine and Lisa's stall is in a marquee on the green outside Parkside swimming pool!

Prints for Mill Road Winter Fair

I have been working on some animal images based on sketches from the zoo......they have taken a while but they are finally finished!

Proofs of Not Me

I got the new proofs for Not Me! a few days ago so I thought I'd post a scan of the cover. It will be coming out at the beginning of May 2010 and is being published by Egmont UK.

Mill Road Winter Fair

Me and Lisa (who I share a studio with) are having a stall at the Mill Road Winter Fair in CAmbridge this year. It's on Saturday the 5th December so it's only a few weeks away. These were the first christmas cards I made for it........ still trying to think of some more ideas!

Ice cream sign

My friend asked me to make a sign for her little girls' wendy house to turn it into an ice cream parlour. I've just done this tonight - it's basic but I hope they like it!

Back to the zoo again today! The weather was rubbish - cold, windy and quite bit of rain but I still really enjoyed it. Even treated myself to a chimp mask in the shop on the way out!

Have had this image floating around on my desktop for a while - a friend very kindly flagged it up on the internet for me. It's a photo from the Bologna book fair 2009 where my first book was being shown (in a very basic dummy) for the first time!

Yet another trip to whipsnade!

Trying to make the most of weekends before the weather gets too cold and makes it hard to draw outside for too long. Made sure I made it to the lemurs before it was closed this time.

I went with a friend so we went to see the sealion splash show - ended up with only one sealion as the other was not following the routine. Also went to see birds of the world which didn't go to plan either - an owl made a break for freedom over the children's zoo!

At the end of the day I went to the elephant house - the baby was asleep on the floor. It was pretty dark so quite hard to make out exact lines - but it was such a treat to see it in such close proximity.

Back to the zoo

Made the most of the sunshine and went back to the zoo yesterday with my housemate Amy. As she's not been before we tried to see ALL the animals which was good as it meant I went to see things that I usually miss out. The only disappointment was that we left the lemurs till last and by the time we got back their section was closed.

The zoo

Went drawing at Whipsnade Zoo a couple of weeks ago. The highlight was seeing the 3 day-old baby elephant which I tried to draw with its mum. Didn't quite manage before they'd walked away but atleast it's a record of the difference in scale!

Just trying to post something (anything) but obviously my lack of technical skills is quite a hindrance!  The aim is to get this blog started and to encourage myself to continue.  I wonder whether it will work......
